Family of some of the persons accused of plotting to destabilise government have invoked on their gods to intervene in the matter.<\/p>\n
Making libation at the premises of a district court on Wednesday, relatives of a local gun manufacturer, said to be one of the masterminds of the alleged coup plot, called on all the gods in the Volta Region \u2013 where the suspect hails from \u2013 to strike down anyone who bears false witness against the accused.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey are calling on the gods of Kpando, the gods of Avetime, the gods of Alavanyo to intervene that all those who will come and give false testimony against them [suspects], the gods should take care of them [persons who will give false testimony],\u201d another relative explained the invocation during the making of libation in Ewe.<\/p>\n
State prosecutors on Wednesday have charged nine persons with treason felony for allegedly engaging in an \u201celaborate plot\u201d to destabilise the government.<\/p>\n
Two other persons, personnel of the Ghana Armed Forces, Lance Corporals Godwin Nii Ankrah and Albert Baba Ibrahim, have meanwhile been discharged by the court after the state dropped charges against them.<\/p>\n
The suspects charged with the first-degree felony are;<\/p>\n
-Dr Frederick Yao Mac-Palm, a medical doctor<\/p>\n
– Dornyah \u201cEzor\u201d Kafui \u2013 a local weapon manufacturer<\/p>\n
-Bright Allan Debrah Ofosu (aka BB or ADC) \u2013 a freight manager<\/p>\n
-Gershun Akpa \u2013 a civilian employee of the Armed Forces.<\/p>\n
Also, soldiers, Colonel Samuel Kojo Gameli, WO2 Esther Saan, Lance Corporal Ali Solomon, Corporal Seidu Abubakar, Sylvester Akanbiri have been charged with treason.<\/p>\n
