{"id":11417,"date":"2019-10-10T07:01:41","date_gmt":"2019-10-10T07:01:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.nsemgh.com\/?p=11417"},"modified":"2019-10-10T07:01:41","modified_gmt":"2019-10-10T07:01:41","slug":"short-commission-govts-white-paper-not-white-enough-former-secretary-to-igp","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nsemgh.com\/2019\/10\/10\/short-commission-govts-white-paper-not-white-enough-former-secretary-to-igp\/","title":{"rendered":"Short Commission: Govt\u2019s White Paper not white enough \u2013 Former Secretary to IGP"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A former Executive Secretary to\u00a0the Inspector General of Police, Superintendent Peter Toobu (Rtd.), has criticised the government for rejecting significant portions of the Emile Short Commission Report.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at a forum organised by\u00a0the Coalition of Civil Society\u00a0Organisations Against Political Vigilantism, he described the government\u2019s white paper on the report as \u201cnot white enough.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He warned that the failure of the government to fully accept the report and ensure justice for those who were wronged has the potential to\u00a0ignite reprisals\u00a0in the future.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m sure all of you have realized that the people who were harmed or injured during the Ayawaso West Wougon are still in pain. We have not been able to truly heal them.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is just waiting for us. Vengeance can come.
