{"id":12168,"date":"2019-10-17T07:05:03","date_gmt":"2019-10-17T07:05:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.nsemgh.com\/?p=12168"},"modified":"2019-10-17T07:05:03","modified_gmt":"2019-10-17T07:05:03","slug":"ashanti-police-butcher-driver-33","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nsemgh.com\/2019\/10\/17\/ashanti-police-butcher-driver-33\/","title":{"rendered":"Ashanti: Police butcher driver, 33"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\" bd-postcontent-3 bd-tagstyles bd-custom-blockquotes bd-custom-image bd-custom-bulletlist bd-custom-table bd-bootstrap-tables bd-table-striped bd-table-bordered bd-table-hover bd-table-condensed bd-contentlayout-offset\">\n<h2>Some policemen in the Ashanti Region have allegedly beaten and butchered a 33-year-old driver, causing his death shortly after.<\/h2>\n<p>The incident is said to have happened on Tuesday.<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-1220784161199635\" data-ad-slot=\"3976749912\" data-adsbygoogle-status=\"done\" data-overlap-observer-io=\"false\"><ins id=\"aswift_1_expand\"><ins id=\"aswift_1_anchor\"><\/ins><\/ins><\/ins><\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>Some residents at Adomfe in Asante Akyem South District who witnessed the incident have been narrating the incident in separate radio interviews on\u00a0how the said policemen\u00a0allegedly beat and butchered the driver.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to Accra based <em>Starr FM, for instance,<\/em>\u00a0an eyewitness said about seven police officers with three in uniform stormed the area for an operation and had an altercation with the deceased.<\/p>\n<p>They were said to have\u00a0pushed him to\u00a0the ground, kicked and punched him in the face before some of the\u00a0policemen\u00a0started butchering him with a machete.<\/p>\n<p>The Assembly Man for the area, Samuel Kofi Boadu told <em>Starr FM<\/em>\u00a0that the policemen who were on patrol were reportedly searching\u00a0for one Mr Kankam and another Yaa Yaa who live in the area.<\/p>\n<p>He said since they did not find these individuals, they ransacked their homes and did not find anything as well.<\/p>\n<p>He said when they were returning from the girl&#8217;s place, they met two guys and grabbed them.<\/p>\n<p>One of them is said to have asked what he had done, and in trying to explain, they started beating him up, and one of the policemen went to the patrol vehicle and took a machete\u00a0to attack him.<\/p>\n<p>He said after cutting the person, those around there started approaching the police, and on realizing that the mob was increasing they started giving out warning shots, about and put the victims in the patrol vehicle and sped off.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Boadu said he called the district police commander to find out but got notified that no police personnel were deployed to the area.<\/p>\n<p>The District Police Commander for the area, Superintendent Anyani Andrews has since confirmed the incident\u00a0and explained that\u00a0the policemen involved are not from his station, but from the Konongo Division.<\/p>\n<p>credit: Starr.com.gh<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Some policemen in the Ashanti Region have allegedly beaten and butchered a 33-year-old driver, causing his death shortly after.
