It could pave the way for diplomatic action and economic sanctions against the Hong Kong government.<\/div>\n<div data-v-f8b97894=\"\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"read-more-text\" data-v-f8b97894=\"\"><em>A colour revolution will not succeed in Hong Kong: Henry Fok\u2019s son<\/em><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div data-v-9d7aa14a=\"\" data-v-4342f312=\"\" data-v-22ae94a0=\"\">\n<div data-v-4342f312=\"\" data-v-22ae94a0=\"\"><\/div>\n<div data-v-4342f312=\"\" data-v-22ae94a0=\"\">\n<p class=\"generic-article__body article-details-type--p content--p\" data-v-9d7aa14a=\"\" data-v-4342f312=\"\" data-v-22ae94a0=\"\">\u201cWielding the big sticks or resorting to long-arm jurisdiction cannot solve any problems, and sanctions are never effective to achieve any results,\u201d Wei said. \u201cThe Chinese people don\u2019t buy such intimidation and we are not afraid [to fight].\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div data-v-4342f312=\"\" data-v-22ae94a0=\"\">\n<div class=\"generic-article__body article-details-type--p content--p\" data-v-9d7aa14a=\"\" data-v-4342f312=\"\" data-v-22ae94a0=\"\">The minister also reiterated Beijing\u2019s long-held position on <span class=\"text\" data-v-f8b97894=\"\">Taiwan.<\/span>, and warned \u201cexternal forces\u201d against \u201cinterference\u201d. Beijing views the self-ruled island as a renegade province to be united with the mainland by force if necessary.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div data-v-4342f312=\"\" data-v-22ae94a0=\"\"><\/div>\n<div was less critical because Beijing had decided that, while it needed to manage its differences with Washington, it was more important to identify common goals shared by the two
