Sanitation Minister, Cecilia Abena Dapaah, has lashed out at\u00a0the Municipal Chief Executive of the Weija-Gbawe Municipal Assembly for failing to\u00a0ensure proper sanitation in the municipality.<\/p>\n
According to the Minister, the MCE\u2019s failure to provide waste bins to residents has contributed to the poor sanitation of the area.<\/p>\n
\u201cYour one-house, one-bin is not working\u201d, she wants the MCE,\u00a0Patrick Kwasi Brako,\u00a0to provide more bins to households.<\/p>\n
Cecilia Abena Dapaah made the comments during a visit to the municipality.<\/p>\n
During the tour of\u00a0the municipality, the Minister noted\u00a0that drains were now serving as dumping sites for\u00a0refuse because waste bins were scarce.<\/p>\n
The Minister stated that it was mandatory for the MCE to inspect and make sure that proper measures are enforced in ensuring proper sanitation in the municipality.<\/p>\n
She gave the MCE an ultimatum of two weeks to supply the municipality with enough waste bins.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m giving you till the end of November, by the end of November, we will write to you. Whoever doesn\u2019t do it, I\u2019ll break your leg. You produce garbage and you pay for it. Simple!\u201d, she added.<\/p>\n
The sanitation tour began at the\u00a0Weija-Gbawe and Kasoa municipalities and is intended to rank and award the cleanest municipalities across the country.<\/p>\n
Patrick Kwasi Brako\u00a0admitted that dealing with sanitation was one of his biggest challenges and assured the Minister that he will comply with her directive.<\/p>\n
