{"id":14554,"date":"2019-11-10T05:57:03","date_gmt":"2019-11-10T05:57:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.nsemgh.com\/?p=14554"},"modified":"2019-11-10T05:57:03","modified_gmt":"2019-11-10T05:57:03","slug":"uber-bolt-cars-to-get-unique-stickers-to-pay-gh%c2%a260-annual-fees","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nsemgh.com\/2019\/11\/10\/uber-bolt-cars-to-get-unique-stickers-to-pay-gh%c2%a260-annual-fees\/","title":{"rendered":"Uber, Bolt cars to get unique stickers; to pay GH\u00a260 annual fees"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\" bd-postcontent-3 bd-tagstyles bd-custom-blockquotes bd-custom-image bd-custom-bulletlist bd-custom-table bd-bootstrap-tables bd-table-striped bd-table-bordered bd-table-hover bd-table-condensed bd-contentlayout-offset\">\n<h2>The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA), has imposed a GH\u00a260 annual fee on drivers who use ride-hailing platforms such as Uber, Yango and Bolt.<\/h2>\n<p>The fee, forms part of new guidelines the Authority has introduced together with the Ministry of Transport, National Road Safety Commission, the MTTD of Ghana Police Service and other key stakeholders to check the activities of such digital operations.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement, the DVLA noted that the guidelines will also cover companies who intend to operate ride-hailing platforms in Ghana in the future.<\/p>\n<p>Among other things, owners of vehicles that operate on the ridesharing platforms are now expected to present their vehicles and its registration certificate at the Digital Transport Center at DVLA\u2019s Headquarters in Cantonments for \u201cverification and authentication.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In cases where the driver is unable to be present, his\/her representative must present a duly signed Power of Attorney document at the Digital Transport Center as well as a valid national ID document.<ins id=\"revive-0-3\" data-revive-zoneid=\"20\" data-revive-id=\"9498a47af2f5e17dd932fffda2cedac3\" data-revive-seq=\"3\" data-revive-loaded=\"1\"><\/p>\n<div id=\"beacon_132aa977dc\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.graphic.com.gh\/adsonline\/www\/delivery\/lg.php?bannerid=99&amp;campaignid=14&amp;zoneid=20&amp;loc=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.graphic.com.gh%2Fnews%2Fgeneral-news%2Fuber-bolt-cars-to-get-unique-stickers-to-pay-gh-60-annual-fees.html&amp;referer=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.graphic.com.gh%2F&amp;cb=132aa977dc\" alt=\"\" width=\"0\" height=\"0\" \/><\/div>\n<p><\/ins><\/p>\n<p>The DVLA indicated as part of the new guidelines that special identifier stickers will be issued to vehicles that have completed the process and they \u201cmust be affixed on the windscreen at all times.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHaving successfully signed up, the vehicle must now undergo roadworthy examination and certification every six (6) months as it is the case for all commercial vehicles,\u201d DVLA noted in the statement.<\/p>\n<p>Beyond the guidelines for the car owners, the DVLA said drivers of the vehicles must mandatorily be present for their verification and authentication.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUnlike in the case of the vehicle owner, the driver must be physically present for this activity\u2026..Drivers must ensure that, at all times, they possess a valid Driver\u2019s Licence,\u201d it added.<\/p>\n<p>In the case of the companies that operate the digital transport platforms, the DVLA said they must provide proof of their business registration and also only drivers verified by the DVLA must be allowed to use the platform.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOnce you are signed on, only verified and approved vehicles and drivers must be enrolled on your platform.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe DVLA data system becomesthe only valid source for verifying the authenticity of a driver\u2019s license or a vehicle\u2019s registration.
