{"id":15126,"date":"2019-11-17T13:04:09","date_gmt":"2019-11-17T13:04:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.nsemgh.com\/?p=15126"},"modified":"2026-07-05T15:29:04","modified_gmt":"2026-07-05T15:29:04","slug":"dagbon-enskins-akufo-addo-malti-na-abudani-i","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nsemgh.com\/2019\/11\/17\/dagbon-enskins-akufo-addo-malti-na-abudani-i\/","title":{"rendered":"Dagbon enskins Akufo-Addo &#8216;Malti-Na Abudani I&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Overlord of Dagbon, Ya Na Mahama Abukari II has conferred the title \u2018Dagbon Malti-Naa Abudani I\u2019 on President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.<\/p>\n<p>The conferment, which took place on Saturday, 16 November 2019 at the celebration of this year\u2019s Damba Festival in Yendi, the first time the festival is being celebrated in over thirty years, is in recognition of the role President Akufo-Addo has played in bringing lasting peace to Dagbon.<\/p>\n<p>In his remarks, Ya Na Mahama Abukari II stated that he took over the leadership of Dagbon at a time when the challenges appeared vast and insurmountable.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHowever, I take solace in the fact that with a united Dagbon, and a supportive government, we will overcome those challenges and chart a new path of peace and development,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The Ya Na continued, \u201cWe have just emerged from a crisis that began almost seven decades ago, thanks to your government\u2019s unrelenting efforts in helping us to resolve our succession crisis. I want to express the gratitude of the chiefs and people of Dagbon to Your Excellency, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, for the great role played by you and your government to get us where we are today.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Thanking the Ya Na for \u201cthe gracious gesture and honour\u201d, the President told the gathering that up till now, he had been satisfied with his self-conferred title of Prince Abudani.<\/p>\n<p>This title was, however, made official and expanded by Ya Na Mahama Abukari II to \u2018Dagbon Malti Naa Abudani I\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThank you very much Ya Na Mahama Abukari II, Overlord of Dagbon, and I promise you that I will do my best to live up to the title,\u201d President Akufo-Addo added.<\/p>\n<p>In November 2018, the Committee of Eminent Chiefs presented the final report of the roadmap for bringing an end to the Dagbon crisis, which culminated, in January this year, in the enskinment of Ya Na Mahama Abukari II, bringing an end to the 17-year-old crisis.<\/p>\n<p>At the enskinment ceremony of Ya Na Abukari Mahama on 25 January 2019, President Akufo-Addo stated that: \u201cI am neither Abudu nor Andani, I am \u2018Abudani\u2019, a person who stands for unity, reconciliation and progress in Dagbon.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Source: Classfmonline<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Overlord of Dagbon, Ya Na Mahama Abukari II has conferred the title \u2018Dagbon Malti-Naa Abudani I\u2019 on President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
