{"id":15264,"date":"2019-11-19T13:44:34","date_gmt":"2019-11-19T13:44:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.nsemgh.com\/?p=15264"},"modified":"2019-11-19T13:44:34","modified_gmt":"2019-11-19T13:44:34","slug":"we-will-deal-with-western-togolanders-government","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nsemgh.com\/2019\/11\/19\/we-will-deal-with-western-togolanders-government\/","title":{"rendered":"We Will Deal With Western Togolanders \u2013 Government"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The government of Ghana has said the country remains intact despite the declaration of independence for the Volta Region by separatist group Homeland Study Group Foundation (HSGF) on Saturday, 16 November 2019.<\/p>\n<p>The group independence declaration of the region as Western Togoland, was made by the group\u2019s 85-year-old leader, Mr Charles Kudzordzi also known as Papavi Hogbedetor, at a public gathering of its adherents at the premises of the former Unity Rural Bank which is a few metres away from the Ho Police Training school.<\/p>\n<p>The secessionist declaration was broadcast live on Facebook.<\/p>\n<p>The group, which has had several brushes with the law on the matter in the past, rode on the recent omission of the Volta Region from the list of critical roads to be constructed in 2020 when the Finance Minister presented next year\u2019s budget to Parliament, in declaring the region independent.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking in his native Ewe language in reference to the gaffe, which was corrected by Mr Ken Ofori-Atta on Friday, which the government has subsequently described as a \u201cgenuine inadvertent mistake\u201d which resulted from a \u201cprinting error\u201d, Papa Hogbedetor wondered if it was ever possible for parents to forget their children.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey forgot about us because we\u2019re not their children\u201d, he said, declaring to cheers from his followers: \u201cFrom the midnight of 16 November 2019 entering into Sunday, 17 November 2019, we\u2019re now Western Togoland state\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The government, in a statement signed by Information Minister Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, however, said it \u201ctakes note of the activities\u201d of the foundation, adding: \u201cGhana remains a sovereign state which has not ceded any part of its territory to any person or group of persons.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile admonishing the public to disregard the claims by the group, the general public is hereby informed that state security agencies are taking the necessary measures to ensure that persons involved with the illegal act, are dealt with in accordance with the law.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGhana\u2019s security agencies remain in firm charge of Ghana\u2019s territory and encourage all persons to continue with their daily activities normally\u201d, the statement said.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>source: classfmonline<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The government of Ghana has said the country remains intact despite the declaration of independence for the Volta Region by separatist group Homeland Study Group Foundation (HSGF) on Saturday, 16 November 2019.
