{"id":15347,"date":"2019-11-20T06:32:36","date_gmt":"2019-11-20T06:32:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.nsemgh.com\/?p=15347"},"modified":"2019-11-20T06:32:36","modified_gmt":"2019-11-20T06:32:36","slug":"ghana-signs-deal-to-buy-aeroplanes-for-relaunch-of-international-airline","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nsemgh.com\/2019\/11\/20\/ghana-signs-deal-to-buy-aeroplanes-for-relaunch-of-international-airline\/","title":{"rendered":"Ghana signs deal to buy aeroplanes for relaunch of international airline"},"content":{"rendered":"<article class=\" bd-article-3\">\n<div class=\" bd-layoutbox-10 bd-no-margins clearfix\">\n<div class=\"bd-container-inner\">\n<div class=\" bd-postcontent-3 bd-tagstyles bd-custom-blockquotes bd-custom-image bd-custom-bulletlist bd-custom-table bd-bootstrap-tables bd-table-striped bd-table-bordered bd-table-hover bd-table-condensed bd-contentlayout-offset\">\n<h2>Ghana has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with The Boeing Company and De Havilland Aircraft of Canada for the purchase of aeroplanes as part of efforts to relaunch an international airline.<\/h2>\n<p>The MoU was signed on Tuesday, November 19 at the Dubai Air Show.<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>According to a statement issued by Boeing, three of the aeroplanes with a list price value of $877.5 million are to be bought from Boeing.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-body__text\">De Havilland Aircraft of Canada Ltd on its part also said on Tuesday that it has obtained 11 more orders for its Dash 8-400 plane at the Dubai Airshow, as it revives the recently acquired turboprop business from Bombardier Inc.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-body__text\">Aurora, a subsidiary of Aeroflot-Rossiyskiye Avialinii PAO , signed a letter of intent to purchase up to five Dash 8-400 aircraft, while the Republic of Ghana agreed to buy six aircraft during the Dubai Airshow, which runs between Nov. 17-21.<ins id=\"revive-0-3\" data-revive-zoneid=\"14\" data-revive-id=\"9498a47af2f5e17dd932fffda2cedac3\" data-revive-seq=\"3\" data-revive-loaded=\"1\"><\/p>\n<div id=\"beacon_b61d4c27e7\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.graphic.com.gh\/adsonline\/www\/delivery\/lg.php?bannerid=102&amp;campaignid=14&amp;zoneid=14&amp;loc=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.graphic.com.gh%2Fnews%2Fgeneral-news%2Fghana-signs-deal-to-buy-3-airplanes-for-relaunch-of-int-l-airline.html&amp;referer=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.graphic.com.gh%2Fnews%2Fgeneral-news%2Fghana-news-waec-withholds-results-of-753-private-wassce-candidates.html&amp;cb=b61d4c27e7\" alt=\"\" width=\"0\" height=\"0\" \/><\/div>\n<p><\/ins><\/p>\n<p>The re-launch of the Ghana national carrier will see services initially within the West African sub-region in anticipation of future routes to destinations in Europe, North America and Asia, according to the Minister of Aviation, Mr Joseph Kofi Adda.<\/p>\n<p>The deal was signed on behalf of Ghana by the Minister of Aviation, Mr Joseph Kofi Adda.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is a growing demand for air travel to and from Ghana and we believe the advanced 787-9 Dreamliner gives us an efficient and flexible machine to launch a regional network and eventually serve international destinations in the future,\u201d Mr Adda said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe 787 has an excellent reputation for its operational performance, fuel efficiency and passenger experience and we are confident that we have the right partner for our new carrier,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>The Senior Vice President in charge of Commercial Sales and Marketing for The Boeing Company, Ihssane Mounir, observed that Africa, particularly Ghana, boasts of a growing and young workforce with vast natural resources.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe see the demand for air travel continuing to rise across the continent.
