{"id":16916,"date":"2019-12-12T14:20:07","date_gmt":"2019-12-12T14:20:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.nsemgh.com\/?p=16916"},"modified":"2019-12-12T14:30:52","modified_gmt":"2019-12-12T14:30:52","slug":"justice-anin-yeboah-nominated-as-next-chief-justice","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nsemgh.com\/2019\/12\/12\/justice-anin-yeboah-nominated-as-next-chief-justice\/","title":{"rendered":"Justice Anin-Yeboah nominated as next Chief Justice"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>President Akufo-Addo has nominated Justice Anin-Yeboah\u00a0as Chief Justice subject to Parliamentary\u00a0approval.<\/p>\n<p>JoyNews correspondent, Kwei Parker-Wilson reports that the First Deputy Speaker, Joseph Osei Owusu, has referred the letter to the Appointments Committee of the House.<\/p>\n<p>If approved, Justice Anin-Yeboah, who is the fourth longest-serving Justice of the Supreme Court, will succeed Justice Sophia Abena Boafoa Akuffo, who retires on December 20, 2019.<\/p>\n<p>Justice Anin-Yeboah, a well-seasoned law enforcer, was appointed to the Supreme Court by former President John Agyekum Kuffuor in June 2008.<\/p>\n<p>He has also served as a Justice of the High Court, and a Justice of the Court of Appeal.<\/p>\n<p><iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/_dLRAwlbV9E\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>In addition, he is a part-time lecturer in Civil Procedure and the Ghana Legal System at the Ghana School of Law.<\/p>\n<p>Prior to that, he had served as a Justice of the High Court from 2002 to 2003 and a Justice of the Court of Appeal from 2003 to 2008.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-16920\" src=\"https:\/\/www.nsemgh.com\/pub\/anim-yeboah-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"275\" height=\"183\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.nsemgh.com\/pub\/anim-yeboah-2.jpg 275w, https:\/\/www.nsemgh.com\/pub\/anim-yeboah-2-150x100.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 275px) 100vw, 275px\" \/> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-16921\" src=\"https:\/\/www.nsemgh.com\/pub\/anin_yeboah.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"250\" height=\"230\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.nsemgh.com\/pub\/anin_yeboah.jpg 250w, https:\/\/www.nsemgh.com\/pub\/anin_yeboah-150x138.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 250px) 100vw, 250px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Apart from being a Supreme Court Justice, Justice Anin Yeboah is also a part-time lecturer in Civil Procedure and the Ghana Legal System at the Ghana School of Law.<\/p>\n<p>Justice Anin Yeboah\u2019s name is also associated with football.
