The projections show Macron with a comfortable first<span class=\"typographizer-debug typographizer-debug--ignored\">&#8211;<\/span>round lead Sunday of between 27%<span class=\"typographizer-debug typographizer-debug--ignored\">&#8211;<\/span>to<span class=\"typographizer-debug typographizer-debug--ignored\">&#8211;<\/span>29% support, ahead of Le Pen, who is expected to capture 23%<span class=\"typographizer-debug typographizer-debug--ignored\">&#8211;<\/span>to<span class=\"typographizer-debug typographizer-debug--ignored\">&#8211;<\/span>24% of the vote.<\/p>\n<p>But the second round is likely to be tight.<\/p>\n<p>The election\u2019s result will impact Europe\u2019s direction as it tried to contain Russia and the havoc wreaked by Russian President Vladimir Putin\u2019s war on Ukraine.
