{"id":21205,"date":"2022-05-05T19:53:26","date_gmt":"2022-05-05T19:53:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.nsemgh.com\/?p=21205"},"modified":"2022-05-05T19:53:26","modified_gmt":"2022-05-05T19:53:26","slug":"putin-apologised-for-ministers-hitler-comments-says-israel","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nsemgh.com\/2022\/05\/05\/putin-apologised-for-ministers-hitler-comments-says-israel\/","title":{"rendered":"Putin apologised for minister\u2019s Hitler comments, says Israel"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"dcr-xry7m2\"><strong>The Russian president, Vladimir Putin, apologised for comments by his foreign minister, Sergei Lavrov, claiming Adolf Hitler had Jewish origins, according to Israel\u2019s prime minister, Naftali Bennett.<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-xry7m2\">Bennett said he accepted the apology and thanked Putin for clarifying his position, he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-xry7m2\">The Israeli prime minister said he also asked Putin to consider allowing the evacuation of the besieged Azovstal steel works in the Ukrainian port of Mariupol, following an earlier conversation he had with Ukraine\u2019s president, Volodymyr Zekenskiy.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-xry7m2\">Bennett said Putin promised to set up a corridor for evacuating civilians from the plant.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-xry7m2\">In an\u00a0interview\u00a0with Italian TV earlier this week, Lavrov was asked to address how Russia could say it needed to \u201cdenazify\u201d the country when its president, Zelenskiy, is Jewish.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-xry7m2\">Lavrov replied:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"dcr-192pdjc\"><p>As to [Zelenskiy\u2019s] argument of what kind of nazification can we have if I\u2019m Jewish, if I remember correctly, and I may be wrong, Hitler also had Jewish blood.
