The former Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany has been appointed Burnley\u2019s manager. The 36-year-old e former Belgium international quit as head coach at Anderlecht, where he spent three years, in May.<\/p>\n
\u201cBurnley Football Club is a truly historic English side and it is an honour to be appointed first-team manager,\u201d said Kompany, who takes over from caretaker Mike Jackson, who replaced\u00a0Sean Dyche in April\u00a0but could not save the club from\u00a0relegation to the Championship. \u201cI\u2019m excited by the challenge ahead. I\u2019m looking forward to getting to work with the players and creating a positive, winning team for our fans when we return to Turf Moor.<\/p>\n

Kompany enjoyed a glittering 11-year career at City, leading the club to four Premier League titles, two FA Cups and four League Cups.<\/p>\n
