Malawi\u2019s president canceled two foreign visits owing to the country\u2019s economic austerity measures, the finance minister said on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

The decision was \u201cnot an obligation\u201d and has been taken by President Lazarus Chakwera of his own accord, Sosten Gwengwe told journalists.<\/p>\n

It saved Malawi approximately $261,000, the minister added.<\/p>\n

Its commended for restricting foreign trips in order to save forex but what about corruption? Africa needs to focus its anti-corruption fight on long-term,high-return institution building activities,coupled with the justice infrastructure and political will to hold those transgress accountable.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
