Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr. George Akuffo Dampare (PhD) has disclosed that Police Officers who die in line of duty will be replaced with their qualified relatives.<\/strong><\/p>\n

He says this is part of measures to ensure that Police personnel give off their best in protecting the citizens of Ghana.<\/p>\n

George Akufo Dampare made this known when he spoke at a forum on the campus of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology(KNUST).<\/p>\n

The Police Chief said there are works in place to ensure that the Ghana Police Service becomes a reference point for policing across the globe.<\/p>\n

Dampare used the opportunity to make the public aware of the need to criticise the work of the service.<\/p>\n

However, he was quick to add that criticisms should be constructive in order not to demoralize men and women in the service.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen a police officer dies on duty, we have put new measures in place to ensure that a relative of the deceased officer who is qualified is recruited into the service as part of efforts to urge our officers to do their best in protecting the public,\u201d\u00a0he said.<\/p>\n

Adding that \u201cWe want a police service of the people, by the people and for the people. We want to make the service the best institution in the country and a reference point in the world\u201d.<\/p>\n
