That leaves him with no option to leave United, as nearly all big Champions League sides have decided not to sign him.

Ronaldo, thus, is set to play in the Europa League for the first time since leaving Sporting CP for United as a teenager.

Despite ending last season as our top scorer with 24 goals, Cristiano is yet to score in 2022/23 so far.

“I don’t know why he [Ronaldo] is a particular focus after Saturday, it was the team performance. The whole team’s attitude [was wrong] including Ronaldo,” Erik ten Hag told a press conference as he looked back at the Brentford humbling.

“I think I made myself clear, I was definitely not happy,” the manager added.

“In football you can talk about football, you can talk about the plan and philosophy but it starts with the basic stuff, the right attitude, fighting attitude and I didn’t see that from minute one. It remains to be seen whether he keeps agitating for an exit until September 1 when the window closes, however.

Cristiano Ronaldo remains part of Manchester United’s project despite his clear intention to leave the club.

According to ESPN FC, the 37-year-old will not be going anywhere even though his desire to leave is becoming a ‘negative influence’.
While Cristiano has been training well since returning to Carrington earlier this month, the Portuguese is not hiding ‘his keenness for a move’ away.

Erik ten Hag is said to be concerned about bringing any negativity behind the scenes with confidence already fragile on the back of two Premier League defeats.

According to tier-one journalist Pedro Almeida, a reliable source for Portuguese transfers, Cristiano Ronaldo has ‘accepted’ his fate of staying at Manchester United for another season.
