{"id":27019,"date":"2022-11-01T16:43:58","date_gmt":"2022-11-01T16:43:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.nsemgh.com\/?p=27019"},"modified":"2022-11-01T16:44:00","modified_gmt":"2022-11-01T16:44:00","slug":"wealthy-businessman-tried-to-mediate-on-ofori-attas-behalf-kyei-mensah-bonsu-reveals","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nsemgh.com\/2022\/11\/01\/wealthy-businessman-tried-to-mediate-on-ofori-attas-behalf-kyei-mensah-bonsu-reveals\/","title":{"rendered":"Wealthy businessman tried to mediate on Ofori-Atta\u2019s behalf \u2013 Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu reveals"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Amid the calls for his resignation, Finance Minister\u2019s predicament has courted him sympathisers in certain quarters of the business community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Majority Leader, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu has revealed that when some of the Majority MPs called for Mr. Ofor-Atta\u2019s dismissal, one of Ghana\u2019s wealthy businessmen approached them to plead on behalf of the Minister.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In an interview with JoyNews,monitored by NSEMGH, the Majority leader explained that in the heat of the arguments in Parliament, the said businessman met some of the legislators and \u201ctried to do something.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He fell short of stating what exactly the move was nor the form it took.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI\u2019m told on authority that some businessman came here and tried to do something,\u201d he told Evans Mensah.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\nhttps:\/\/twitter.com\/Joy997FM\/status\/1587361984030199808?s=20&#038;t=UEsh0RHn0c290Xd4TsvRig\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Suame MP insisted that it was meant to help persuade the members of the house against nudging the Minister out of office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI was told that he came here and tried to mediate in his own way what he thinks the problem is,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He further narrated that \u201che was repelled by the people and told he was told not to involve himself. So he went away.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This revelation was made in a yet-to-be-aired interview on PM Express on JoyNews.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIf that is the case I want to talk to that man and know his motive. But people could also be indulging in speculation. So we want to hear him to see what it is\u2026 Did he come here?\u2026 did he come with any inducement? What was the motivation? Not having heard him, I don\u2019t want to prejudge.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to Osei-Kyei-Mensah Bonsu, the man in question is a known figure in the business community who has his own way of dealing with both sides of the political divide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Finance Minister is the subject of criticism for what many say is a lost grip on the economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ken Ofori-Atta is at the doors of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) seeking a bailout to prevent a further slump.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">source:joynews<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Amid the calls for his resignation, Finance Minister\u2019s predicament has courted him sympathisers in certain quarters of the business community.
