Iran plans to ramp up its involvement in Ukraine by sending a supply of ballistic missiles to aid Russia’s invasion, the country’s military chiefs have claimed. Officials believe Russia would deploy the shipment, which contains missiles and additional drones, from the country’s northern border.\u00a0 Ukrainian Air Force spokesman Colonel Yuri Ignat said that, from this position, the deployed weapons would “threaten all of Ukraine”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And while Ukraine could shoot them down, Mr Ignat said his Government lacks the capability. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said: \u201cWe will use all means of defense against these missiles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“They will probably be deployed to the North from Ukraine, from where they can be launched in such a way as to threaten all of Ukraine.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He claimed the ballistic missiles would come in 300km and 700km range capabilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

US network CNN confirmed that it had received a similar briefing from officials of “a western country that closely monitors Iran\u2019s weapons program”. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The shipment would become the second sent by Iran to Russia to bolster the Kremlin’s firepower. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tehran previously shipped approximately 450 drones to Putin’s regime that armed forces have used to aid their invasion efforts. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ukraine claims to have shot down more than 300, and have posted photos of wreckage appearing to originate from Iranian weaponry. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The country has claimed Iran sent Shahed-136 attack drones that cruise towards targets and explode on impact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Western European countries, namely the UK, France and the US, have backed Ukrainian calls for a UN-led inquiry into the weapons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Both Iran and Russia have denied the shipment or use of drones from the Middle-Eastern nation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Iranian foreign ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani said the calls were “false”, “baseless” and \u201cstrongly rejected and condemned\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tehran has denied sending weapons to aid Russia in Ukraine, and the Kremlin has denied using them.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Officials are unclear as to precisely when the next alleged shipment will arrive but believe the delivery should happen by the end of 2022. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Russia has recently ramped up its assault on Ukraine, with missiles raining down on the country’s major cities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Drone explosions have once again rocked Kyiv, with residents of the capital hearing the low hum of their engines as they wind through city streets.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Putin’s regime is reportedly targeting Ukraine’s energy infrastructure in a bid to cripple the country ahead of winter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Analysts believe Russia aims to cow the Ukrainian population, and the latest strikes left Kyiv without essential utilities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Missiles that landed on critical infrastructure yesterday left thousands of homes across the capital without running water, gas and electricity. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
