{"id":27692,"date":"2022-11-26T06:24:02","date_gmt":"2022-11-26T06:24:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.nsemgh.com\/?p=27692"},"modified":"2022-11-26T06:24:04","modified_gmt":"2022-11-26T06:24:04","slug":"biden-and-family-attended-christmas-lighting-at-nantucket","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nsemgh.com\/2022\/11\/26\/biden-and-family-attended-christmas-lighting-at-nantucket\/","title":{"rendered":"Biden and Family attended Christmas lighting at Nantucket"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Biden family\u2019s tradition of eating lunch, shopping and watching a Christmas tree lighting in downtown Nantucket on Friday became mostly about keeping the president\u2019s 2-year-old grandson from having a meltdown.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There was President Joe Biden\u2019s daughter, Ashley, dancing and clapping with nephew Beau to \u201cJingle Bell Rock\u201d to keep him entertained as they waited with the crowd that had gathered for the 48th annual tree lighting ceremony on Main St.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There was Beau perched on the shoulders of his dad, Hunter Biden.\u00a0<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1025\" height=\"688\" src=\"https:\/\/www.nsemgh.com\/pub\/2022\/11\/4D1415F7-B0E5-429F-BBC7-B60835AF98F1.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-27694\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.nsemgh.com\/pub\/2022\/11\/4D1415F7-B0E5-429F-BBC7-B60835AF98F1.jpeg 1025w, https:\/\/www.nsemgh.com\/pub\/2022\/11\/4D1415F7-B0E5-429F-BBC7-B60835AF98F1-300x201.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/www.nsemgh.com\/pub\/2022\/11\/4D1415F7-B0E5-429F-BBC7-B60835AF98F1-768x515.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/www.nsemgh.com\/pub\/2022\/11\/4D1415F7-B0E5-429F-BBC7-B60835AF98F1-750x503.jpeg 750w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1025px) 100vw, 1025px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There was Beau being carried by his father, then not being carried by his father, then appearing to say things that suggested he wanted to get out of the cold and intermittent heavy rain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Beau\u2019s grandfather walked with him at various points.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Every member of the family seemed to be doing whatever they could to keep blond-haired Beau, who is named after his late uncle, happy for a few hours until the tree was lit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Bidens have a more than 40-year tradition of spending Thanksgiving on Nantucket, an island off the coast of Massachusetts.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The day after, they go out to lunch \u2014 this year, they dined at the Brotherhood of Thieves restaurant. Afterward, they hit Nantucket Bookworks, a nearby bookstore. The president emerged carrying his purchases in a reusable tote bag.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They meandered along downtown Nantucket\u2019s cobblestone streets, going into some stores and window shopping at others. The first lady and Ashley had gotten some of their shopping done earlier Friday, so the spree after lunch was mostly for the president.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Biden spent time inside a leather goods store and a pet store, among other businesses. At one point, he looked through the window of a lingerie store but did not go inside.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe\u2019re thankful for you,\u201d someone yelled to the president.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The tree lighting ceremony went off with a bit of a hitch.
