{"id":28429,"date":"2022-12-14T07:44:57","date_gmt":"2022-12-14T07:44:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.nsemgh.com\/?p=28429"},"modified":"2026-07-04T00:29:26","modified_gmt":"2026-07-04T00:29:26","slug":"37-foreign-luxury-vehicles-stolen-and-recovered-by-eoco","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nsemgh.com\/2022\/12\/14\/37-foreign-luxury-vehicles-stolen-and-recovered-by-eoco\/","title":{"rendered":"37 foreign luxury vehicles stolen and recovered by EOCO"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO) in collaboration with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police have retrieved thirty-seven imported luxury vehicles suspected to be stolen from America and Canada.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">EOCO in a statement on December 13 said the various specifications of luxury vehicles were retrieved from some garages in Accra last Friday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ten suspects were arrested in the process and have since been granted Police enquiry bail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.myjoyonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/WhatsApp-Image-2022-12-13-at-14.25.24-753x1024.jpeg\" alt=\"EOCO retrieves 37 imported stolen luxury vehicles\" class=\"wp-image-10032227202\" title=\"EOCO retrieves 37 imported stolen luxury vehicles\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">EOCO has advised prospective vehicle buyers to ensure due diligence is done before purchasing vehicles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe investigation is ongoing and there will be updates on further developments,\u201d EOCO said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Meanwhile, Importers of used vehicles have accused EOCO and National Security of unlawfully raiding their garages and seizing their cars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The importers, who are known collectively as the Vehicle and Assets Dealers Union say the vehicles seized by EOCO were duly acquired vehicles belonging to their members.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They have since issued a three-day ultimatum to the government to return the cars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201c\u2026we have given the government three days.
