{"id":28841,"date":"2022-12-29T21:52:55","date_gmt":"2022-12-29T21:52:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.nsemgh.com\/?p=28841"},"modified":"2022-12-29T21:52:56","modified_gmt":"2022-12-29T21:52:56","slug":"for-ten-years-michelle-obama-claims-she-couldnt-bear-her-husband-barack","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nsemgh.com\/2022\/12\/29\/for-ten-years-michelle-obama-claims-she-couldnt-bear-her-husband-barack\/","title":{"rendered":"For ten years, Michelle Obama claims she &#8220;couldn&#8217;t bear&#8221; her husband Barack"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Former first lady Michelle Obama has said she \u201ccouldn\u2019t stand\u201d her husband for a decade while the couple\u2019s children were young.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In frank comments to the Black news station Revolt TV last week, Obama \u2013 one of the most popular women in America \u2013 said that raising children had put strains on her three-decade marriage to Barack Obama, the US president for two four-year terms beginning in 2009.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/books\/2022\/nov\/20\/the-light-we-carry-by-michelle-obama-review-a-guide-for-life-from-the-former-first-lady\"><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cPeople think I\u2019m being catty by saying this \u2013 it\u2019s like, there were 10 years where I couldn\u2019t stand my husband,\u201d she told a round-table forum. \u201cAnd guess when it happened? When those kids were little.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Obama, 58, was speaking with Kelly Rowland, H.E.R., Winnie Harlow and Beyonc\u00e9\u2019s mother Tina Knowles-Lawson, about an imbalance in her marriage to Barack Obama while his political star was ascending and she was primarily looking after their daughters, Sasha and Malia, who are now in their 20s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAnd for 10 years while we\u2019re trying to build our careers and, you know, worrying about school and who\u2019s doing what and what, I was like, \u2018Ugh, this isn\u2019t even,\u2019\u201d Obama said. \u201cAnd guess what? Marriage isn\u2019t 50\/50 \u2013 ever, ever.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThere are times I\u2019m 70, he\u2019s 30. There are times he\u2019s 60, 40, but guess what?\u201d she continued. \u201cTen years \u2013 we\u2019ve been married 30. I would take 10 bad years over 30 \u2013 it\u2019s just how you look at it. And people give up \u2026 [saying], \u2018Five years \u2013 I can\u2019t take it.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The former first lady is currently promoting a new book, The Light We Carry. In the discussion about the difficulties of a marriage, she said that she and her husband hadn\u2019t discussed how much work is required and \u201chow hard it is even when you are madly in love with the person, even when everything works out right\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When Barack Obama was elected president, the couple\u2019s daughters were 10 and seven. In a recent extract from her book published in the Guardian, the former first lady described how she and her husband learned that for all the \u201cdreaming, preparing and planning for family life to go perfectly \u2026 in the end, you\u2019re pretty much just left to deal with whatever happens\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cYou can establish systems and routines, anoint your various sleep, feeding and disciplinary gurus from the staggering variety that exist,\u201d Obama wrote in the excerpt. \u201cYou can write your family bylaws and declare your religion and your philosophy out loud, but, at some point, sooner rather than later, you will almost surely be brought to your knees, realizing that despite your best and most earnest efforts, you are only marginally \u2013 and sometimes very marginally \u2013 in control.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In her latest comments, she added: \u201cLittle kids, they\u2019re terrorists. They have demands. They don\u2019t talk. They\u2019re poor communicators.
