Turkish goalkeeper Ahmet Eyup Turkaslan has died following Monday\u2019s earthquake in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 28-year-old\u2019s club, second division Yeni Malatyaspor, confirmed the news on Twitter. Turkaslan played six times after joining in 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOur goalkeeper, Ahmet Eyup Turkaslan, lost his life after being under the collapse of the earthquake. Rest in peace,\u201d they wrote. \u201cWe will not forget you, beautiful person.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

More than 7,800 people have died in Turkey and Syria following the devastating earthquake.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Former Newcastle forward Christian Atsu, who now plays in Turkey for Hatayspor, was pulled alive from the rubble of a building he was in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The former Newcastle midfielder Christian Atsu has been rescued from the rubble of a Turkish building that collapsed during\u00a0the devastating earthquake\u00a0on Monday, the Ghana Football Association and his club have said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 31-year-old Ghana international, who plays for the Turkish Super Lig side Hatayspor, was unaccounted for along with his club\u2019s sporting director, Taner Savut.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There were conflicting reports about Atsu\u2019s status on Monday, but Ghana\u2019s FA provided a positive update on social media on Tuesday. \u201cWe\u2019ve received some positive news that Christian Atsu has been successfully rescued from the rubble of the collapsed building and is receiving treatment. Let\u2019s continue to pray for Christian.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hatayspor\u2019s vice-president Mustafa \u00d6zat told Radyo Gol: \u201cChristian Atsu was pulled out injured. Our sporting director, Taner Savut, is unfortunately still under the rubble.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Everton, one of Atsu\u2019s former clubs, responded to the good news. \u201cWe are relieved to hear @ChristianAtsu20 has been found and is recovering in hospital,\u201d they tweeted. \u201cOur thoughts continue to be with everyone affected by the earthquakes in Turkey and Syria.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
