New York-based cosmetics company Maybelline has named Nigerian Afrobeats singer\u00a0Ayra Starr\u00a0as its spokesperson for sub-Saharan Africa<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The announcement was made on 30 March, and the role will see the singer represent the firm as a brand influencer across the region. She will also be involved in various initiatives aimed at promoting women\u2019s empowerment and self-expression.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Signed to the\u00a0Don Jazzy-led\u00a0Mavin Records, Ayra Starr also represents UK skincare line L’Avyanna Skin Naturals. In September 2021, she was unveiled as brand ambassador for Pepsi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Born Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibigbe, Ayra Starr burst onto the Nigerian music scene in 2021 with her self-titled debut EP and album\u00a019 & Dangerous<\/em>. In October last year, she released the album\u2019s deluxe edition, with Grammy award-winning legend Kelly Rowland on a remix of focus track \u2018Bloody Samaritan\u2019. Ayra Starr also guested on\u00a0Wizkid\u2019s latest LP\u00a0More Love Less Ego.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n In December, she was named by music video network Vevo, alongside fellow Nigerian musicians\u00a0Oxlade\u00a0and Nonso Amadi, as an artists on the cusp of global breakthrough in 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Meanwhile, the singer released her new song \u2018Sability\u2019 last month, which is her first solo single this year.
