{"id":30652,"date":"2023-04-04T08:05:35","date_gmt":"2023-04-04T08:05:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.nsemgh.com\/?p=30652"},"modified":"2023-04-04T08:05:37","modified_gmt":"2023-04-04T08:05:37","slug":"ursula-blasted-for-naming-facility-after-mum","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nsemgh.com\/2023\/04\/04\/ursula-blasted-for-naming-facility-after-mum\/","title":{"rendered":"Ursula Blasted For Naming Facility After Mum"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Minister of Communication and Digitalisation Ursula Owusu-Ekuful has come under criticism for naming a library and tech hub after her mother.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Christiana Akua Brago Diawuo Library and Tech Hub was was inaugurated on Thursday, March 30 at Akim Oda in the Eastern Region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The facility was constructed at the instance of the Minister but supported by the <a href=\"https:\/\/3news.com\/tag\/ghana-investment-fund-for-electronic-communications\/\">Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications<\/a> (GIFEC), Huawei Ghana, MTN Ghana and the Ghana Library Authority (GhLA).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This has incensed some Ghanaians, who think the facility appears to be part of state-capture by officials of the incumbent government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/b2014168.smushcdn.com\/2014168\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/Ursula-critic.jpg?lossy=1&amp;strip=1&amp;webp=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-288455\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/3news.com\/tag\/vice-president-dr-mahamudu-bawumia\/\">Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia<\/a> was at the event as the Special Guest of Honour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201dRecounting my past and acknowledging the contributions of my mother, Christina Akua Brago Diawuo, which has propelled me to my current state, I can only be thankful,\u201d the Communications Minister wrote on Facebook.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201dThank you, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, for joining me to inaugurate \u2018The Christina Akua Brago Diawuo Library and Technology hub\u2019 at Akim Oda, an honour to my mother.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/3news.com\/natl-cathedral-there-is-no-contract-for-cary-summers-secretariat-tells-ablakwa\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">3news<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Minister of Communication and Digitalisation Ursula Owusu-Ekuful has come under criticism for naming a library and tech hub after her mother.
