{"id":30658,"date":"2023-04-04T08:16:26","date_gmt":"2023-04-04T08:16:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.nsemgh.com\/?p=30658"},"modified":"2023-04-04T08:16:28","modified_gmt":"2023-04-04T08:16:28","slug":"anti-gay-bill-i-pray-the-mps-will-do-the-needful-nyamekye","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nsemgh.com\/2023\/04\/04\/anti-gay-bill-i-pray-the-mps-will-do-the-needful-nyamekye\/","title":{"rendered":"Anti-Gay Bill: I Pray The MPs Will Do The Needful \u2013 Nyamekye"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>President of the <a href=\"https:\/\/3news.com\/tag\/ghana-pentecostal-and-charismatic-council\/\">Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council<\/a> (GPCC) <a href=\"https:\/\/3news.com\/tag\/apostle-eric-kwabena-nyamekye\/\">Apostle Eric Kwabena Nyamekye<\/a> has said that the Council is waiting to see what the Members of Parliament will do regarding the Proper Human Sexual Rights &amp; Ghanaian Family Values Bill also known as the Ant-Gay Bill.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He said they are behind the bill.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cOur position on LGBTQI is clear, we have made it clear already that we are behind the bill and we are for the bill. We are waiting for what our legislators will do but I pray that they will do the needful,\u201d he said on Sunday, April 2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The First Vice Chair of the GPCC Apostle Gordon Kisseih also said the Council is not neutral when it comes to issues of gayism and lesbianism<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cSince the family is the basic unit of life and the home is where families are nurtured it is critical to note that any attempt to change the definition of man, woman, boy, girl, or marriage will be an attack on the family and an attack on the foundation which holds us as a family together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cGPCC is not neutral, GPCC has a stance. Let it be clear to all that GPCC has a stance against LGBTQI.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ghana\u2019s Parliament is seeking to pass the Proper Human Sexual Rights &amp; Ghanaian Family Values Bill also known as the Ant-Gay Bill, <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">the committee\u2019s report on the Bill was laid in Parliament before it went on recess on Friday March 31.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ranking Member on&nbsp;the Constitutional, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Committee of Parliament,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/3news.com\/tag\/rockson-nelson-dafeamekpor-2\/\">Rockson Nelson Dafeamekpor<\/a>&nbsp;said that \u201cJoin us and pray for us.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Earlier, another ranking Member on Committee&nbsp; Bernard Ahiafor assured the Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin that the committee would not be intimidated by anyone from doing its work in relation to the Anti-Gay Bill.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mr Ahiafo said he is a lawyer and is full of indomitable spirits therefore, he cannot be intimidated by anyone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He told TV3\u2019s Parliamentary correspondent Komla Kluste in an interview on Wednesday, March 29 that the committee is ready to take the second reading of the Bill if it is programmed by the Business Committee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He said \u201cI can speak for myself, I am a man with an indomitable spirit and I don\u2019t think&nbsp; I can be intimidated in any manner whatsoever by anybody.&nbsp; I am a lawyer, I will look at the law, look at the constitution and look at what needs to be done.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThat is exactly what I am going to do without any fear or favor and so let me assure the Speaker that the committee is made up mostly of lawyers and they cannot be intimidated, <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWhat the committee is supposed to do, the Committee has done it, and our report is ready. If the Business Committee programmes it today, we can take the second reading of the anti-LGBTOI Bill today, if it is programmed tomorrow we can take the Bill tomorrow.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin earlier told the Constitutional, not to be intimidated by anyone regarding the Anti-Gay Bill.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He asked the committee to report back to him if they are encountering any challenges.<br>\u201cPlease, committee members that we referred the Bill to, we want the report, don\u2019t be intimidated by any person,\u201d he said during a breakfast meeting with the Parliamentary Christian Fellowship on Tuesday, March 28.<br>He added \u201cPlease let the report flow, we need to legislate.
