{"id":31101,"date":"2023-04-12T07:37:51","date_gmt":"2023-04-12T07:37:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.nsemgh.com\/?p=31101"},"modified":"2023-04-12T07:37:53","modified_gmt":"2023-04-12T07:37:53","slug":"ghana-meteorological-agency-deploys-250-recruits-nationwide","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nsemgh.com\/2023\/04\/12\/ghana-meteorological-agency-deploys-250-recruits-nationwide\/","title":{"rendered":"Ghana Meteorological Agency Deploys 250 Recruits Nationwide"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMet) is set to deploy 250 new recruits across the country. 120 of the new recruits according to GMet, are trainees from the Nation Builders Corp, who have been retrained and employed as permanent staff of the agency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This was disclosed at the closing ceremony of the Meteorological Awareness Month and Deployment of Recruits, at the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission in Accra.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In his address, the Acting Director General of Ghana, Eric Essuman said \u201cafter the three years training period, the GMet made a special appeal to the Communications Minister to grant us a special dispensation and get us financial clearance from the Ministry of Finance to maintain the NABCO personnel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"960\" height=\"540\" src=\"https:\/\/www.nsemgh.com\/pub\/2023\/04\/image-1-15.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-31102\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.nsemgh.com\/pub\/2023\/04\/image-1-15.jpg 960w, https:\/\/www.nsemgh.com\/pub\/2023\/04\/image-1-15-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.nsemgh.com\/pub\/2023\/04\/image-1-15-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.nsemgh.com\/pub\/2023\/04\/image-1-15-750x422.jpg 750w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe Minister responded positively as we secured clearance for all 120 NABCO personnel, and an additional 130 more complimentary staff as permanent employees of the Meteo Agency.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All 250 new recruits will be assigned to all regional and district offices of the agency nationwide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Speaking to&nbsp;<strong>JoyNews<\/strong>&nbsp;on the sideline of the event, the Head of Central Analysis and Forecast of the Ghana Meteorological Agency, Felicity Ahianyo explains that \u201csome of these persons will be in charge of administration procedures, daily and hourly observations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe are grooming some to become Assistant Meteos who will be sent to the regional offices to assist in analysing the information collated from across the regions. All of these will be forward to our headquarters for forecasting.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She said the deployment will help improve the accuracy of predictions, and the agency\u2019s current validation rate of 89%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Improving funding and equipment<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Delivering the keynote address, the Minister for Communication and Digitization, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, promised more government funding for the agency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.myjoyonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/Ursula-Owusu.jpg\" alt=\"Ghana Meteorological Agency deploys 250 recruits nationwide\" class=\"wp-image-10032292320\" title=\"Ghana Meteorological Agency deploys 250 recruits nationwide\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe Ministry of Communication and Digitization also facilitated payment for operation vehicles, calibration equipment, and the message switching system procured by the agency.
