{"id":31509,"date":"2023-04-17T20:59:18","date_gmt":"2023-04-17T20:59:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.nsemgh.com\/?p=31509"},"modified":"2023-04-17T20:59:20","modified_gmt":"2023-04-17T20:59:20","slug":"ec-sets-may-23-for-kumawu-by-election","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nsemgh.com\/2023\/04\/17\/ec-sets-may-23-for-kumawu-by-election\/","title":{"rendered":"EC Sets May 23 For Kumawu By-election"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Electoral Commission, Ghana (EC) has settled on Tuesday, May 23 as date for the by-election in the Kumawu Constituency of the Ashanti Region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a press release to announce the timelines for the by-election, the EC said the nomination forms have already been made available for download on its website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They have been there since Friday, April 14&nbsp; and will be there till Friday, May 5.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The nominations will be received at the Sekyere Kumawu District Office of the Commission from Tuesday, May 2 to Friday, May 5 between the hours of 9:00am and 12:00pm and from 2:00pm to 5:00pm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The filing fee is GH\u00a210,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAll completed nomination forms are expected to be delivered in quadruplicate,\u201d the press release signed by Jean Mensa said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The by-election has been occasioned by the death of the Member of Parliament, Philip Basoah, which sad event occurred on Tuesday, March 28.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">His seat was consequently declared vacant by the Speaker of Parliament and the EC was duly informed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The major political parties have been preparing for the exercise despite the EC\u2019s delay in announcing the date.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/3news.com\/tag\/national-democratic-congress-ndc\/\">National Democratic Congress (NDC)<\/a> has settled on Kwasi Amankwaa as its candidate for the by-election while the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will elect its candidate on Sunday, April 23.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Electoral Commission, Ghana (EC) has settled on Tuesday, May 23 as date for the by-election in the Kumawu Constituency of the Ashanti Region.
