{"id":32347,"date":"2023-04-29T15:09:52","date_gmt":"2023-04-29T15:09:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.nsemgh.com\/?p=32347"},"modified":"2023-04-29T21:50:34","modified_gmt":"2023-04-29T21:50:34","slug":"eius-report-predicting-ndc-win-must-be-consumed-in-context-ahiagbah","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nsemgh.com\/2023\/04\/29\/eius-report-predicting-ndc-win-must-be-consumed-in-context-ahiagbah\/","title":{"rendered":"EIU\u2019s Report Predicting NDC Win Must Be Consumed In Context \u2013 Ahiagbah"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Director of Communications of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Richard Ahiagbah is calling on Ghanaians to disregard the report released by the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) which predicted victory for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2024 polls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mr. Ahiagbah said the report\u2019s projections need to be consumed in context to help Ghanaians understand and appreciate the economic issues faced by the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Economist Intelligence Unit in its latest report released on Friday, April 28, 2023, said the NDC is likely to win both the presidential and parliamentary elections in the 2024 polls due to poor governance and economic hardship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But Mr. Ahiagbah in an interview on <strong>Eyewitness News <\/strong>on<strong> Citi FM<\/strong>, disputed the projections of the EIU\u2019s report and said: \u201cThe environment we are in is different and the basis of the old predictions that have carried through will not necessarily hold with respect to the environment we are in now. I think the report is only affirming the realities of the world and where the world economy finds itself and that affects Ghana.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He added that: \u201cYou have to consume the report in context because if you look at the IMF outlook projection for Sub-Saharan Africa, it suggests that there is going to be a two-year-old deceleration of economic activities and that is the situation that the world finds itself in.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He further bashed the report and said: \u201cIf four years ago, you consumed the EIU report in a manner to suggest that the incumbent is going to lose, you cannot do the same today because the contexts are different, and the reality of today\u2019s world is different so the economic challenges Ghana is going through is linked to the global economy and the entire global economy is not doing well.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"2024 General elections: NPP and NDC react to EIU&amp;apos;s report on polls\" width=\"1290\" height=\"726\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/zbn6gHiwyV4?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Director of Communications of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Richard Ahiagbah is calling on Ghanaians to disregard the report released by the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) which predicted victory for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2024 polls.
