{"id":32849,"date":"2023-05-06T09:55:26","date_gmt":"2023-05-06T09:55:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.nsemgh.com\/?p=32849"},"modified":"2023-05-06T09:55:29","modified_gmt":"2023-05-06T09:55:29","slug":"bawumia-supporters-in-ashanti-region-promise-85-victory-in-presidential-primaries","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nsemgh.com\/2023\/05\/06\/bawumia-supporters-in-ashanti-region-promise-85-victory-in-presidential-primaries\/","title":{"rendered":"Bawumia Supporters In Ashanti Region Promise 85% Victory In Presidential Primaries"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Members of Parliament, Constituency Chairman, and Regional Executives who are supporting the Vice President\u2019s bid to lead the New Patriotic Party are pledging to ensure Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia gets 85 percent endorsement from delegates in the Ashanti Region during the party\u2019s Presidential Primaries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A meeting dubbed \u2018First DMB Operational Meeting\u2019 for Zonal Coordinators and held at Effiduase in the Ashanti Region brought together some Members of Parliament, Zonal Coordinators, and their secretaries as well as Constituency Chairmen and Regional Executives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The meeting was aimed at mapping out strategies that will make it possible for the Vice President to lead the NPP in the 2024 general elections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Key among Members of Parliament present at the meeting were the Majority Leader, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, Deputy Trade and Industry Minister and MP for Nhyiaeso, Stephen Amoah, Deputy Local government Minister, and MP for Offinso North, Collins Ntim.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Member of Parliament for Effiduase-Asokore, Dr. Ayew Afiriyie who hosted the meeting at his residence tells <strong>Citi News<\/strong>, the Vice President has the backing of a majority of NPP MPs and will be the best person to lead the party.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He also denied assertions that the MPs are being coerced to endorse the candidature of the Vice President.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThere is a freedom movement in the NPP and so if you see a candidate with a lot of supporters, you can\u2019t say it is coercion and people in the party are at liberty to support whichever candidate they wish to be with.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Africa Policy Journal: Time with Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia\" width=\"1290\" height=\"726\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/CWUkB4DUtRg?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Members of Parliament, Constituency Chairman, and Regional Executives who are supporting the Vice President\u2019s bid to lead the New Patriotic Party are pledging to ensure Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia gets 85 percent endorsement from delegates in the Ashanti Region during the party\u2019s Presidential Primaries.
