{"id":33285,"date":"2023-05-12T10:21:03","date_gmt":"2023-05-12T10:21:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.nsemgh.com\/?p=33285"},"modified":"2023-05-12T10:21:05","modified_gmt":"2023-05-12T10:21:05","slug":"breaking-ndc-primaries-to-proceed-tomorrow-as-dr-duffour-withdraws-case","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nsemgh.com\/2023\/05\/12\/breaking-ndc-primaries-to-proceed-tomorrow-as-dr-duffour-withdraws-case\/","title":{"rendered":"BREAKING: NDC Primaries To Proceed Tomorrow As Dr. Duffour Withdraws Case"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">An Accra High Court has today, Friday, May 12, struck out Dr Kwabena Duffour\u2019s injunction application against the National Democratic Congress (NDC)\u2019s presidential and parliamentary primaries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It followed an application by his lawyers to have the case withdrawn.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The request was made in court earlier in the day when the case was called for hearing.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There was no opposition from NDC\u2019s legal team and that of the Electoral Commission (EC).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dr Duffuor\u2019s campaign team had alleged it has not been furnished with an accurate list of persons who are supposed to participate in the May 13, Presidential and Parliamentary polls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He, therefore, wanted the court to put the elections on hold and have the party engage candidates on a road map toward drawing up an accurate list of voters.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The NDC however contended that it has so far rectified most of the errors that have been identified by Dr. Duffuor\u2019s team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Lawyers for NDC thus urged the High Court to dismiss the application.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They insisted that the suit as filed was frivolous and incompetent.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They also described the case as one not grounded in law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe submit that the plaintiff\u2019s suit is incompetent and therefore ought to be dismissed in limine.
