Former Northern Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party(NPP), Mr. Daniel Bugri Naabu has revealed that the leaked tape was meant for President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He told the committee that he was afraid of his inability to recall what he was being told by the police officers and so decided to record and when he is granted the audience of the President he could play it to him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYou know the President, if I go and meet him and tell him this is what I heard and he does get any evidence he may not believe me. So I recorded it so that if I met him and I asked, he would play it for him\u201d, he revealed to the committee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It would be recalled that on Tuesday, July 11, 2023, a secret tape containing the voice of the NPP Council Elder was played on Accra-based Starr FM where he was having a discussion with an unnamed senior police officer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThis IGP is not correct, he won\u2019t help us. Alhaji you have done politics, you know elections is not just\u2026 elections, sometimes mafia work is inside\u2026 and this man sitting down up there will not help our party to do anything,\u201d the supposed Senior Police officer added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The other believed to be Bugri Naabu corroborates his statement by responding \u201c[it\u2019s] not just sometimes, mafia work is inside. As for elections mafia work is involved.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n On the Assin North by-election, he said \u201cI will talk to the chairman and the General Secretary myself\u2026 they should stay in the headquarters.
