{"id":37503,"date":"2023-09-08T02:56:40","date_gmt":"2023-09-08T02:56:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.nsemgh.com\/?p=37503"},"modified":"2023-09-08T02:56:43","modified_gmt":"2023-09-08T02:56:43","slug":"dvla-phases-out-old-drivers-licence","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nsemgh.com\/2023\/09\/08\/dvla-phases-out-old-drivers-licence\/","title":{"rendered":"DVLA Phases Out Old Drivers\u2019 Licence"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (<a href=\"http:\/\/dailyguidenetwork.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">DVLA<\/a>) has announced the commencement of an exercise to phase out the old driver\u2019s licence cards issued before September 2017 from its system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The DVLA, in a release issued by its management on September 6, 2023, indicated that the old cards will be replaced with smart driver\u2019s licence cards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The exercise, according to the DVLA, takes effect from now till March 31, 2024, after which all old card driver\u2019s licences shall be rendered invalid by the Authority.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Authority is thus inviting all holders of the old card driver\u2019s licences to submit them to the nearest DVLA office for verification and replacement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) wishes to inform the public that, it has commenced an exercise to phase out all Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) card driver\u2019s licence (the old PVC card driver\u2019s licences issued before September 2017) and replace them with the smart card driver\u2019s licence.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe Authority is inviting all holders of the PVC card driver\u2019s licences to submit them to the nearest DVLA office for verification and replacement for the smart card driver\u2019s licence. This exercise takes effect from now till March 31, 2024 after which all PVC card driver\u2019s licence shall be rendered invalid by the Authority. This exercise is at no additional cost to the holder,\u201d the statement stressed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Authority has cautioned that holders of the PVC card <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nsemgh.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">driver\u2019s licences<\/a> who fail to replace their licences within the specified period will have to reapply and undergo all required tests to obtain a new driver\u2019s licence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Stating the requirements for replacing the old cards, the DVLA said applicants will have to undergo and pass a mandatory eye test at any DVLA accredited eye test centre and present the driver\u2019s licence in person to the nearest DVLA office for replacement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe Authority takes this opportunity to remind all holders of the smart card driver\u2019s licence to check the renewal dates behind their licences and have them renewed when they are due.
