{"id":38035,"date":"2023-09-24T07:51:05","date_gmt":"2023-09-24T07:51:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.nsemgh.com\/?p=38035"},"modified":"2023-09-24T07:51:06","modified_gmt":"2023-09-24T07:51:06","slug":"intelligence-from-5eyes-partners-help-canada-link-india-to-sikh-murder-usa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nsemgh.com\/2023\/09\/24\/intelligence-from-5eyes-partners-help-canada-link-india-to-sikh-murder-usa\/","title":{"rendered":"Intelligence from \u201c5eyes\u201d partners help Canada link India to Sikh murder &#8211; USA"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Information shared by members of an intelligence-sharing alliance was part of what Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau used to make public allegations of the Indian government\u2019s possible involvement in the assassination of a Sikh Canadian, the U.S. ambassador to Canada said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThere was shared intelligence among \u2018Five Eyes\u2019 partners that helped lead Canada to (make) the statements that the prime minister made,\u201d U.S. Ambassador David Cohen told Canadian CTV News network.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">CTV News released some of Cohen\u2019s comments late Friday, and the network said that it would air the full interview with the U.S. envoy on Sunday. No further details were released about the shared intelligence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On Thursday, a Canadian official told The Associated Press that the allegation of India\u2019s involvement in the killing is based on&nbsp;<strong>surveillance of Indian diplomats in Canada<\/strong>, including intelligence provided by a major ally \u2014 without saying which one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The \u201cFive Eyes\u201d intelligence-sharing alliance is made up of Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and the United States.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The relationship between Canada and India reached its lowest point in recent history when Trudeau said there were \u201ccredible allegations\u201d of Indian involvement in the assassination of&nbsp;<strong>Hardeep Singh Nijjar<\/strong>, a 45-year-old Sikh separatist, in June in a Vancouver suburb.
