Usher has a new confession: The Grammy winner will headline the Apple Music\u00a0Super Bowl<\/strong>\u00a0Halftime Show in Las Vegas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The\u00a0NFL<\/strong>, Apple Music and Roc Nation announced Sunday that Usher would lead the halftime festivities from Allegiant Stadium on Feb. 11. The music megastar, who has won eight\u00a0Grammys<\/strong>, said he\u2019s looking forward to performing on the NFL\u2019s biggest stage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt\u2019s an honor of a lifetime to finally check a Super Bowl performance off my bucket list,\u201d Usher said in a statement. \u201cI can\u2019t wait to bring the world a show unlike anything else they\u2019ve seen from me before.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Usher spring boarded into superstardom with \u201cConfessions,\u201d which sold more than 10 million units in the U.S. and earned him eight nominations at the 2005 Grammys, winning him three. He lost album of the year to Ray Charles\u2019 final album \u201cGenius Loves Company,\u201d released two months after the legend died.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cConfessions\u201d ranks among one of the best-selling music projects of all time and launched No. 1 hits such as \u201cYeah!\u201d with Ludacris and Lil Jon, \u201cBurn\u201d and \u201cConfessions Part II.\u201d His special edition version included the smooth hit \u201cMy Boo,\u201d a duet with Alicia Keys. Next year will mark the 20th anniversary of the epic album.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Usher, 44, is currently headlining his \u201cUsher: My Way\u201d residency in Las Vegas, which has drawn sold-out shows and rave reviews.\u00a0He\u2019s also beginning an eight-night blockof performances in Paris on Sunday. Usher is expected to wrap up his Las Vegas residency in early December before he makes his Super Bowl halftime appearance a couple months later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The singer has served as a coach on NBC\u2019s \u201cThe Voice\u201d and appeared in several films including \u201cHustlers\u201d and \u201cLight It Up.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Roc Nation founder Jay-Z called Usher the ultimate \u201cartist and showman.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cEver since his debut at the age of 15, he\u2019s been charting his own unique course,\u201d he said of Usher, who released his debut self-titled album in 1994. In total, he\u2019s released eight studio projects that were filled with hits including \u201cU Got It Bad,\u201d \u201cU Remind Me,\u201d \u201cYou Make Me Wanna,\u201d \u201cNice & Slow\u201d and \u201cLove In This Club\u201d with Jeezy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Roc Nation and Emmy-winning producer Jesse Collins<\/strong>will serve as co-executive producers of the halftime show. Hamish Hamilton returns as director. It\u2019s the second collaboration between the NFL, Apple Music and Roc Nation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last year, a pregnant Rihanna<\/strong> emerged suspended on a platform above the field for a s pectacular halftime show<\/strong> \u2013 her first solo event in seven years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Usher will join a list of celebrated musicians who have played during Super Bowl halftime shows including Beyonc\u00e9<\/strong>, Madonna, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg<\/strong>, Coldplay, Kendrick Lamar, Eminem, U2, Lady Gaga, Michael Jackson and Katy Perry<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
