The US special antisemitism envoy, Deborah Lipstadt, called the Hamas attacks \u201cthe most lethal assault against Jews since the Holocaust\u201d.
Lipstadt said there was \u201cno justification\u201d for the \u201cheinous, barbaric terrorism against Israeli civilians\u201d and mass murder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cNo one has the right to tell Israel how to defend itself and prevent and deter future attacks.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The permanent observer mission of the state of Palestine to the UN said in a statement: \u201cThese developments did not occur in a vacuum. They are preceded by the killing this year of hundreds of Palestinians \u2026 and preceded by decades of Israel\u2019s unrelenting military raids on Palestinian villages, towns, cities and refugee camps.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
