{"id":40659,"date":"2023-12-04T12:54:31","date_gmt":"2023-12-04T12:54:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.nsemgh.com\/?p=40659"},"modified":"2023-12-04T12:54:36","modified_gmt":"2023-12-04T12:54:36","slug":"aisha-huang-galamsey-king-kongjailed-4-and-half-years","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nsemgh.com\/2023\/12\/04\/aisha-huang-galamsey-king-kongjailed-4-and-half-years\/","title":{"rendered":"Aisha Huang\u201d Galamsey \u201cKing Kong\u201djailed 4 and half years"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Illegal mining kingpin, Aisha Huang has been convicted of mining offences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The &#8216;galemsey queen&#8217; was sentenced to jail for 4 and half years in addition to a fine of GHs48,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This was revealed by an Accra High Court on Monday, December 4, 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.myjoyonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/Aisha-Huang-2-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-10032170907\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Chinese national was standing trial for undertaking a mining operation without a licence, facilitating the participation of persons engaged in mining operation, the illegal employment of foreigners and entering Ghana while prohibited from re-entry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But Aisha Huang insists she has never been involved in illegal mining.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Meanwhile, state prosecutors have vehemently opposed the claim.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.myjoyonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/Aisha-Huang-3.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-10032177952\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Both parties closed their cases back on October 12 and judgment was expected to be delivered today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the hearing today, the judge agreed with prosecutors insisting that Aisha abused her hospitality extended to her.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The court also believes that the suspect also abused her repatriation arrangement for returning to Ghana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Meanwhile, Deputy Attorney General, Alfred-Tuah Yeboah assured that the convict will be deported after serving her sentence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Illegal mining kingpin, Aisha Huang has been convicted of mining offences.
