Arne Slot is set to become Liverpool\u2019s next manager after the terms of his move from\u00a0Feyenoord\u00a0were agreed in principle between the two clubs on Friday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Liverpool and Feyenoord have been negotiating a compensation package since the Anfield club made an official move for the 45-year-old earlier this week. The two parties have now reached a verbal \u00adagreement over the deal, which will see \u00adFeyenoord receive \u20ac9m (\u00a37.7m) plus \u20ac2m in add-ons for a coach who has two years remaining on his contract.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Slot publicly declared his desire to replace Jurgen Klopp before Feyenoord\u2019s victory at Go Ahead Eagles on Thursday. Personal terms are expected to be a formality following talks between Liverpool and Slot\u2019s agent, Rafaela Pimenta. Confirmation of Slot\u2019s appointment as Liverpool manager could follow quickly. Sipke Hulshoff, Feyenoord\u2019s assistant coach, the club\u2019s head of performance Ruben Peeters and analyst Eti\u00ebnne Reijnen are expected to follow Slot to Anfield subject to receiving work permits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Liverpool moved swiftly for Slot knowing he would be of interest to several leading European clubs this summer. His playing style, which is not a radical departure from Klopp\u2019s, his success with Feyenoord, where he has won the\u00a0Eredivisie\u00a0title and KVNB Cup in the past two seasons, and track record of improving young talent all appealed to the Liverpool hierarchy. Their recruitment process has been led by Michael Edwards, the new chief executive officer of football for Fenway Sports Group, Liverpool\u2019s owner, and incoming sporting director Richard Hughes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Klopp claimed Slot would be \u00adwalking into the \u201cbest job in the world and the best club in the world\u201d if appointed as his successor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
