{"id":42471,"date":"2024-04-29T07:52:38","date_gmt":"2024-04-29T07:52:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.nsemgh.com\/?p=42471"},"modified":"2024-04-29T07:52:39","modified_gmt":"2024-04-29T07:52:39","slug":"only-god-can-decide-who-succeed-you-mahama-to-nana-addo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nsemgh.com\/2024\/04\/29\/only-god-can-decide-who-succeed-you-mahama-to-nana-addo\/","title":{"rendered":"Only God can decide who succeed you- Mahama to Nana Addo"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has told President Akufo-Addo that the power to determine his successor does not lie in his hands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Addressing attendees at a ceremony in Damongo, situated in the Savannah Region, where he initiated the construction of a new multipurpose Ndewura Jakpa palace, Mahama underscored the importance of a peaceful and credible election, suggesting that such a legacy would be Akufo-Addo\u2019s most significant contribution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mahama\u2019s remarks follow Akufo-Addo\u2019s assertion that he cannot pass the baton to someone he had previously removed from office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cBefore the election is held, I am going to come here and pay my proper goodbye to you and thank you for the cooperation that I received from you when I was president. God willing, when I come, I will come with the man who is going to be my successor. Wa Naa, you know that the man I removed from the seat, I cannot have him as my successor and as a traditional ruler, you understand what I am saying,\u201c President Akufo-Addo said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In response, Mahama rebuffed the notion that Akufo-Addo has the power over the choice of his successor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI wish to urge our president; this was my message to Nana Akufo-Addo, unfortunately, he has left, and he has left only our member of the council of state on the high table.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI wish to urge our President that the best legacy he can leave this country, is to superintend over a peaceful, transparent and credible election.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI wish to remind him, that it is God who makes rulers and he can never ever be the one to choose his successor.
