Elton John has been left with \u201conly limited vision\u201d after a \u201csevere eye infection\u201d, the 77-year-old singer has announced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He revealed he was healing from the infection in one eye, but said his recovery would take \u201csome time\u201d. In a post on Instagram, John said: \u201cOver the summer, I\u2019ve been dealing with a severe eye infection that has unfortunately left me with only limited vision in one eye.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI am healing, but it\u2019s an extremely slow process and it will take some time before sight returns to the impacted eye. I am so grateful for the excellent team of doctors and nurses and my family, who have taken such good care of me over the last several weeks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI have been quietly spending the summer recuperating at home, and am feeling positive about the progress I have made in my healing and recovery so far.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Numerous stars replied to the post wishing the singer well, including the fashion designer Donatella Versace, the radio presenter Bob Harris and the actor Layton Williams.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Versace said: \u201cTake your time and recover, Elton. We\u2019ll be here waiting for your return when you\u2019re healthy and ready.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Harris posted: \u201cSending you much love Elton.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It was recently announced that the documentary film Elton John: Never Too Late would have its European premiere at this year\u2019s BFI London film festival.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
John,\u00a0who was made a member of the Order of the Companions of Honour\u00a0at a ceremony in November 2021, is known for hits including Saturday Night\u2019s Alright for Fighting, I\u2019m Still Standing and Your Song. In 2019, he was played by the Kingsman actor Taron Egerton in a film about his life called\u00a0Rocketman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
