Beverly Afaglo has said people who publicly portray a life of luxury and good living even though it is not so in private life \u201cdo it for followers\u201d on social media.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She spoke to Nana Romeo on Accra 100.5 FM\u2019s Ayekoo Ayekoo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Noting it was uncharacteristic of her to \u201cbe loud\u201d about her possessions, the actress said a pretentious life was not profitable in the long run.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
People post cars that are not theirs, pose around and talk about them. Some also buy their own cars and announce it was a gift from their man, to praise him, and when they breakup, that\u2019s when the embarrassing truth comes out,\u201d she cited.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She admonished individuals who \u201care always trying to impress people. It\u2019s not necessary. Live your life\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Emphasising she was not a showoff, the entrepreneur noted she would take a compliment if, for instance, her sense of fashion and style was recognised \u201ceven though we don\u2019t usually name me among stylists\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The TV presenter also cautioned young people against \u201cthe speed at which they want to acquire things in life\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI mean I\u2019m 40. I don\u2019t know why a 25-year-old should drive the car I drive at all cost. That was not even the plan for me when I was 25,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
While allowing for \u201cdreaming big,\u201d she stressed life was in \u201cstages,\u201d therefore, one must seek growth and steady elevation instead of sudden flights to affluence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Just to be clear, Beverly Afaglo noted there were strokes of luck in life. However, she greatly cautioned against lusting for possessions to the detriment of one\u2019s quality of life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cGod can bless you to afford somethings. Praise the Lord. A partner could come into your life and give you luxurious things. It\u2019s good. But don\u2019t go and heap on yourself many men, take money from them, put it together and buy that car or rent a place in East Legon because you want to create an impression that you are a big girl [successful and significant]. If you do this, you\u2019ll find yourself living the life of a prostitute. Eventually, not wanting to be disgraced because of rent will force you into a tight corner,\u201d she said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe over-speeding in life is too much. If you are made to feel as though you\u2019re lagging behind, retort: \u2018How old am I?
