While his role is significant, it is primarily advisory, akin to the Council of State. This has raised questions about his influence and responsibility for the country’s economic trajectory.

Bawumia’s Role and Challenges

As Vice President, Dr. Bawumia has not been appointed as a minister, limiting his direct authority. His role, by constitutional design, allows him to make suggestions, but these can be overruled by cabinet decisions.

For instance, Dr. Bawumia has reportedly opposed certain policies, including the introduction of the e-levy, Ghana’s decision to seek IMF assistance, and specific approaches to addressing illegal mining (galamsey). He also conceived the “One District, One Factory” initiative but was not permitted to implement his original vision.

Misplaced Blame

Despite these constraints, Dr. Bawumia is often blamed for the failures of policies he did not oversee or implement. This reflects a broader tendency among Ghanaians to assign blame without examining underlying causes. Many ask why he has not resigned if his contributions are disregarded. However, resignations in politics often result in blackmail and vilification—a reality evident worldwide.

A Leader with a Vision

Whenever Dr. Bawumia speaks, he outlines clear and actionable solutions for Ghana’s future. Unfortunately, many Ghanaians are blinded by dissatisfaction with President Akufo-Addo’s leadership and fail to recognize the Vice President’s forward-thinking proposals.

Even within the NPP, internal politics and infighting have posed challenges. Some party members view leadership as a birthright, and when denied opportunities, they either resign or form splinter parties. This attitude undermines unity and progress within the party.

Why Ghana Needs Dr. Bawumia

The challenges Ghana faces are fundamentally economic, not merely communicative. Dr. Bawumia’s expertise and solutions are critical for addressing these issues.

Ghanaian must look beyond past grievances and assess the solutions proposed by candidates. Dr.Bawumia offers a vision grounded in economic transformation, innovation, and unity. At a time when Ghana faces critical challenges,he stands as the leader best equipped to deliver the tangible outcomes the country desperately needs.

source: www.nsemgh.com

Introduction Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Ghana’s current Vice President, serves as the head of the economic management team under the nation’s constitution.
