{"id":46774,"date":"2025-10-08T06:46:26","date_gmt":"2025-10-08T06:46:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.nsemgh.com\/?p=46774"},"modified":"2025-10-08T06:46:28","modified_gmt":"2025-10-08T06:46:28","slug":"im-shocked-ayikoi-otoo-denies-domelovos-fake-evidence-claim","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nsemgh.com\/2025\/10\/08\/im-shocked-ayikoi-otoo-denies-domelovos-fake-evidence-claim\/","title":{"rendered":"\u2018I\u2019m shocked\u2019 \u2013 Ayikoi Otoo denies Domelovo\u2019s fake evidence claim"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nii Ayikoi Otoo, lead counsel for former Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo, has responded to comments made by former Auditor-General Daniel Yao Domelovo, who recently accused him of submitting fake documents during the committee\u2019s investigation into the former CJ.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Domelovo in an interview on the KSM Show alleged that Mr. Otoo presented forged documents to the investigative committee. Domelovo, a member of the committee, singled out a letter purportedly appointing the CJ, which he claimed was improperly issued by the Judicial Secretary instead of the President.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIt will interest you to know that it is the junior of the CJ, the Judicial Secretary, who appointed the CJ. That letter he produced is signed by the Judicial Secretary appointing a CJ,\u201d Domelovo said, calling the document \u201cfake.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Rebutting this in an interview on\u00a0Citi Eyewitness News,monitored by <em><strong>NSEMGH<\/strong><\/em>,\u00a0on Tuesday, October 7, Otoo expressed deep shock at Domelovo\u2019s claims, describing the committee\u2019s conduct as unprofessional and politically motivated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI have listened to him and I am shocked by the things he went and sat there to do,\u201d Otoo said. \u201cIf only he was doing politics. I have exposed them that they did a shoddy job \u2014 whether as a result of that they are now trying to find some face-saving measures.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Otoo insisted the document in question was not fraudulent and accused Domelovo of misrepresenting the facts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He further explained that as an Article 71 office holder, the Chief Justice\u2019s full entitlements, including salaries and privileges, are determined after leaving office by a constitutionally mandated five-member committee. Until then, the organisation \u2014 in this case, the Judicial Service \u2014 has internal policies that guide interim arrangements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWere you not in this country when the CJ was appointed\u2026Didn\u2019t we know when she was appointed? Didn\u2019t we see that the President gave a warrant?\u201d he asked. \u201cThat warrant of appointment will not contain your terms of service.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWhen we are talking of conditions of service and the person brings you one and it is signed by the spending officer, you decide that that thing is a forgery? It is something that beats everyone\u2019s imagination, having regard to his experience \u2014 unless we have put him too high, beyond where he really belongs.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He reiterated that what was presented to the committee was merely a letter from the Judicial Service, not an appointment warrant, and rejected the assertion that any forged documents were submitted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cSo nothing of the sort happened.
