The Chairperson of Parliament\u2019s Public Accounts Committee (PAC) and former Deputy Finance Minister, Abena Osei Asare, has dismissed allegations that the Akufo-Addo government mismanaged Ghana\u2019s economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Speaking with Bernard Avle on Channel One TV\u2019s The Point of View<\/strong><\/em> on Monday, November 10, Mrs. Osei Asare attributed Ghana\u2019s economic performance during their tenure to sound management despite global shocks such as the COVID-19 pandemic and the Russia-Ukraine war.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Responding to claims by the Mahama administration that the economy was mismanaged under the Akufo-Addo government, she highlighted key economic indicators, including inflation and GDP growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cEvery era and what really describes it, but in 2022, inflation was 54%, but when we were leaving office in 2024, we reduced it by 23.8%. We inherited a growth rate of 3.6% but we left it at 5.7%.
