{"id":47498,"date":"2025-11-12T04:36:35","date_gmt":"2025-11-12T04:36:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.nsemgh.com\/?p=47498"},"modified":"2025-11-12T04:36:38","modified_gmt":"2025-11-12T04:36:38","slug":"2026-budget-over-ghc30bn-allocated-for-big-push-agenda-mahama","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nsemgh.com\/2025\/11\/12\/2026-budget-over-ghc30bn-allocated-for-big-push-agenda-mahama\/","title":{"rendered":"2026 Budget: Over GHC30bn allocated for Big Push Agenda \u2013 Mahama"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">President John Dramani Mahama has revealed that Finance Minister Cassiel Ato Forson has earmarked GHC30.8 billion in the 2026 budget for the government\u2019s&nbsp;<em>Big Push<\/em>&nbsp;road construction initiative \u2014 more than double this year\u2019s allocation of GHC13.8 billion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The move forms part of the government\u2019s strategy to accelerate infrastructure development, improve regional connectivity, and position Ghana as a key trade hub in West Africa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The new funding will facilitate the completion of ongoing projects and the start of new road networks, particularly across the northern transport corridors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Speaking at the Wa Big Push Project sod-cutting ceremony on Tuesday, November 11, President Mahama underscored the project\u2019s importance as a cornerstone of Ghana\u2019s long-term national development agenda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He stressed the need for quality, accountability, and community participation to ensure the initiative delivers tangible benefits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cTo our contractors and engineers, let me be clear: the day of poor construction, inflated claims, and abandoned projects is over. Ghana deserves better. You must deliver quality on schedule and within budget, and the Ghanaian taxpayer must see value in every kilometre of road we construct,\u201d President Mahama stated.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He further explained that financing would not be an obstacle under the new framework.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAs I\u2019ve said everywhere, this year, the Finance Minister put 13.8 billion cedis into the Big Push road construction, and next year, he\u2019s reserving 30.8 billion cedis for the Big Push road construction. And so, payment is not going to be the problem. If a contractor is not working, it is not because he hasn\u2019t been paid.
