In honor of July 4th, Nike had planned to release sneakers that featured an early version of the American flag \u2013 known as the Betsy Ross flag \u2013 on the heels.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">When Kaepernick saw photos of the sneakers, he contacted Nike and complained, arguing it was offensive to use a symbol that stemmed back to an era of slavery in the United States. Shortly after Nike abruptly cancelled the release of the sneaker.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">Meanwhile, &#8216;Dream Crazy&#8217; is nominated for an Emmy in the Outstanding Commercial 2019 category. Along with Nike, Wieden + Kennedy and production company Park Pictures are also up for the award.
