Rex Omar has disclosed that at this stage in his career, he won\u2019t bother himself over a hit song because he has had it all.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m no more interested in getting hit songs. I\u2019ve grown and passed that stage. I now want songs that will grow beyond me, but if you are a young artiste, you have to get a hit song in order to make your name in this industry and also make some good money,\u201d he told Andy Dosty on Hitz FM.<\/p>\n
\u201cI have nothing to prove to Ghanaians. I have done it all and Ghanaians themselves can testify and that\u2019s why I still get shows to play. All I am interested in now is to sustain my legacy, that\u2019s all,\u201d he indicated.<\/p>\n
He, however, stated that he will be collaborating with Michael Owusu Addo, known in the showbiz scene as Sarkodie.<\/p>\n
The veteran highlife artiste revealed that they also have plans to release a remix version of his biggest hit song, \u2018Abiba\u2019.<\/p>\n
Rex Omar first rose to prominence in 1989 with the \u2018Aware Pa\u2019 album, which also included the \u2018Wodofo Ne Hwan\u2019 track.<\/p>\n
In 1992, he formed the highlife group, Nakorex, together with fellow highlife artistes Nat Brew and Akosua Agyapong.<\/p>\n
He then pursued a solo career after the break-up of the group, and in 2004, Omar was nominated for a Kora Award, as well as artiste of the year in the Ghana Music Awards in 2005.<\/p>\n
He produced the hit song, \u2018Maba\u2019 \u2013 a traditional gospel tune off the album, \u2018Lion of Judah\u2019 \u2013 gospel with African roots that was a complete drift from the quintessential Rex Omar sound.<\/p>\n
With a deluge of chart-topping songs, best-selling albums and sold-out concerts across Africa and Europe and a career that has spanned several decades \u2013 Rex Omar\u2019s legacy and legendary status is beyond doubt; it is certified.<\/p>\n
