Member of Parliament for Korle Klottey constituency, Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, says the waywardness of today\u2019s generation should be blamed on the older generation.<\/p>\n
According to the legislator, the youth of today are only imitating what they saw their elderly folks do.<\/p>\n
Addressing thousands of young people at the 2019 International Youth Empowerment Summit (IYES) on Thursday at the National Theatre, she said negativity associated with today\u2019s youth is an indictment on the older generation.<\/p>\n
\u201c\u2026They say the younger generation don\u2019t have a vision, don\u2019t want to work, don\u2019t have the right ethics, the list is long. But here is what I say today, everything that we point to that is negative in the youth is an indictment on the generation that came before them,\u201d she stated.<\/p>\n
Zanetor Rawlings also called out leadership of Ghana for promoting vices and relegating virtues.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf there is a generation that has normalised and institutionalised things like corruption if we have a generation that has divided us along partisan lines if we have a generation that has moved God into the corner\u2026then can we blame the young people for copying what they only came to see?\u2019\u2019 she quizzed.<\/p>\n
The MP requested that leaders take responsibility for their actions and provide an enabling environment for the youth to prosper.<\/p>\n
The 2019 International Youth Empowerment is scheduled from August 21 to August 23 with a morning and evening session each day.<\/p>\n
Day one had speakers including CEO of the National Youth Authority (NYA), Emmanuel Asigiri, CEO of National Entrepreneurship and Innovations Plan (NEIP), John A. Kumah, Legal practioner Justin Koduah, Sampson Amoateng and Brian Amoateng.<\/p>\n
Day two featured Rev. Eastwood Anaba, Daniel Amoateng, Amma Frimpomaa Dwumah, Bola Ray, Zanetor Rawlings, and Chioma Akpotha.<\/p>\n
Samira Bawumia, the wife of the Vice President, is expected to climax the 2019 edition of the event with her speech.<\/p>\n
Dr Kofi Abban, Sarkodie and DJ Switch will also address thousands of young people on the final day.<\/p>\n
International Youth Empowerment Summit (IYES) 2019 is powered by Hitz FM and Joy Prime.<\/p>\n
