The Ashanti regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party has commended President Akufo-Addo for the swift action he has taken in suspending the Chief Executive Officer of the Public Procurement Authority (PPA), Mr. AB Adjei.<\/p>\n
The suspension of Mr. AB Adjei, follows allegations made against him in an investigative documentary conducted by Manasseh Azure Awuni, titled \u201cContracts for Sale\u201d.<\/p>\n
Mr. Bernard Antwi-Boasiako noted in an interview with Peacefmonline.com that the action taken by President Akufo-Addo reaffirms his position that he is a man who doesn\u2019t condone acts of corruption.<\/p>\n
\u201cPresident Akufo-Addo continues to distinguish himself and show he is incorruptible. You can\u2019t be corrupt and expect to be a free man under President Akufo-Addo. He believes in making the laws work and I want to commend him for referring the matter to the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) for quick action\u201d, Mr. Antwi-Boasiako aka Chairman Wontumi said.<\/p>\n
A statement released by the Director of Communication at the Office of the President, Mr. Eugene Arhin on Thursday 22nd August, 2019, stated that the President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has suspended from office, with immediate effect, the Chief Executive Officer of the Public Procurement Authority (PPA), Mr. AB Adjei.<\/p>\n
The statement continued that: This follows the broadcast of allegations made against him in an investigative documentary conducted by Manasseh Azure Awuni, titled \u201cContracts for Sale\u201d.<\/p>\n
President Akufo-Addo has, subsequently, referred the allegations involving conflict of interest to the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), and those relating to potential acts of corruption to the Office of Special Prosecutor, for their prompt action.<\/p>\n
The President has also notified the Chairperson of the Board of the PPA to ensure that Mr AB Adjei hands over his office expeditiously to Mr. Frank Mante, the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the PPA.<\/p>\n
