Former President Jerry Rawlings has said he is yet to be aware of the raging corruption situation in which the CEO of the Public Procurement Authority (PPA), Mr Adjenim Boateng Adjei, finds himself.<\/p>\n
A recent investigative documentary by journalist Manasseh Azure Awuni unearthed that Talent Discovery Limited, a company incorporated in June 2017, of which the PPA CEO is a shareholder and director, has won several government contracts through restrictive tendering, and, in turn, sold to contracts to third parties.<\/p>\n
President Nana Akufo-Addo immediately suspended the PPA CEO after the publication of the investigative piece.<\/p>\n
The president has also referred the matter to both the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) and the Office of the Special Prosecutor for investigations.<\/p>\n
Asked by journalists about what he made of the PPA rot on Saturday, 24 August 2019 while on his way to vote in the main opposition National Democratic Congress\u2019 parliamentary primaries in the Klottey Korle constituency where his daughter, Dr Zanetor Ageyman-Rawlings is the incumbent MP, Mr Rawlings said: \u201cNo, I haven\u2019t\u201d heard of it.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m not keeping abreast of some of these events\u201d, he explained to the journalists, adding: \u201cBut I will; when I do, you can come back\u201d.<\/p>\n
The former military ruler nonetheless noted that: \u201cWe must continue the fight against corruption; it\u2019s destroyed too much and we can\u2019t afford to allow it to continue. So, we are looking up to the Attorney General\u2019s Department to collaborate with Mr Martin Amidu to ensure that the right things are done\u201d.<\/p>\n
