{"id":6974,"date":"2019-08-29T14:42:01","date_gmt":"2019-08-29T14:42:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.nsemgh.com\/?p=6974"},"modified":"2019-08-29T14:42:01","modified_gmt":"2019-08-29T14:42:01","slug":"losing-inusah-fuseini-yieleh-chireh-from-parliament-regrettable-haruna-iddrisu","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nsemgh.com\/2019\/08\/29\/losing-inusah-fuseini-yieleh-chireh-from-parliament-regrettable-haruna-iddrisu\/","title":{"rendered":"Losing Inusah Fuseini, Yieleh Chireh From Parliament Regrettable \u2013 Haruna Iddrisu"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Parliament\u2019s Minority leader in Parliament, Haruna Iddrisu has described the imminent departure of Joseph Yieleh Chireh and Inusah Fuseini from Parliament as a monumental loss to him and the House, describing it as his \u201cdeepest regret\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Inusah Fuseini, the Tamale Central MP opted not to contest in the National Democratic Congress primary whilst Yieleh Chireh, the Wa West MP, lost in the primaries his seat.<\/p>\n<p>Commenting on loss of the two after 2020 on the Citi Breakfast Show, he said he could not \u201cafford to be without the rich input of\u201d the two.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Iddrisu said Inusah Fuseini, who has been in Parliament since April 2006, was \u201cone of the most brilliant lawmakers\u201d when it comes to this legislation.<\/p>\n<p>He further hailed Yieleh Chireh as his \u201cquiet advisor when it comes to legislation and matters of the constitution of Bills.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Minority leader maintained that there was always a place for old heads in Parliament, as the House will also be bidding farewell to Ghana\u2019s longest-serving MP, Alban Bagbin.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cParliamentary work is about experience, therefore, this argument in the country that\u2026 there must be a terminal end [for MPs] is not the way to grow our democracy and it is not the way to make Parliament stronger.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Legislative work is \u201cenriched by experience in constitutional jurisprudence, the practice of law-making and others,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>The changes notwithstanding, Mr. Iddrisu said he was happy with the potential changes in the NDC side of Parliament.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOne can understand that soverignty resides in the people and the people decide.
